Place of Authority in Christ's Church

In our day authority has largely disappeared from society. Many flaunt their permissive views at any who assert authorityeven legitimate authority! This rejection of authority is not only a matter of how the world acts, such rejection also permeates the thinking of many Christians. Many (perhaps most) of the problems that the church faces today stem from this attitude toward the authority of Jesus Christ invested in His church. What can be done about the situation?
