  Gordon H. Clark
This book was first published in 1946, shortly after the US had won WWII and was the only nation on Earth with atomic weapons. In those days, most Christian parents in America still trusted the public schools; they did not even consider educating their children at home or in Christian schools. Those days are gone. A Christian Philosophy of Education demonstrates why public schools could not be trusted even in 1946, for there can be no neutrality in education. Christ said, "He that is not with me is against me." Professor Clark explained why it is necessary to have a worldview, and even more important to have the Christian worldview, and what Christians must do to re-establish a Christian educational system in the US, from Kindergarten to University.

$21.95
$17.60

  Gordon H. Clark
"Greek philosophy began on May 28, 585 B.C., at 6:13 in the evening." With this arresting statement, Dr. Clark begins his masterful and unparalleled account of the history of Western Philosophy. Thales to Dewey does not attempt to be an encyclopedia of philosophy, but focuses primarily on the theories of knowledge advanced by the major philosophers. By focusing his book in this fashion, Dr. Clark is able to present the most important ideas of the philosophers clearly and adequately, rather than confusing the reader with cursory accounts of too many ideas. This is the best one-volume history of philosophy in print. No Christian should be without it.

  A041 Historiography: Secular and Religious
$13.95
$11.20

  Gordon H. Clark
For the past 2,000 years, Christians, to the extent that their thinking has been controlled by revelation, have had an intense interest in history. The Bible is not only the earliest history book, it is also the most reliable. But the Bible omits nearly all events in mankind's past. Is it therefore unreliable or false? Obviously any written history must be selective. But which criteria should one use in selecting the facts to include? Historiography is the study of how history has been and ought to be written. There is no book comparable to Historiography written by another Christian philosopher.

A042 Philosophy of Science and Belief in God
$8.95
$7.20

  Gordon H. Clark
For the past two centuries Christianity has been subjected to an unrelenting barrage of criticism from unbelievers who have argued that historical statements in the Bible are wrong, that the Bible's view of the universe is primitive and mythological, and that God and miracles cannot be reconciled with our modern scientific knowledge. In the popular mind, the phrase "It has been scientifically proved" has replaced "Thus says the Lord" as the final authority. Dr. Clark demonstrates, to the consternation of churchgoers who have accepted the authority of science, that science can offer no objection to the Bible and God, for science never discovers truth. The scientific method is a tissue of logical fallacies.

  A043 Religion, Reason and Revelation
$10.95
$8.80

  Gordon H. Clark
Religion, Reason, and Revelation is one of the greatest defenses of the Christian faith ever written. It is a model of scholarship and analysis; in it Dr. Clark refutes both the broad philosophical movements that opposed Christianity and the specific contentions of many modern authors. But he does not conclude with the logical destruction of non-Christian philosophies; Dr. Clark goes on to show how Biblical Christianity answers questions and solves problems that all other philosophies leave unanswered and unsolved. It is a classic work in Christian apologetics.

A050 Frontiers of Science and Faith: Examining Questions from the Big Bang to the End of the Universe
$15.00
$11.99

  John Jefferson Davis
Fascinating. No other word more accurately describes The Frontiers of Science and Faith by John Jefferson Davis. He looks at several cutting-edge scientific theories from a decidedly conservative theological mindset, and finds that, when properly understood, many scientific theories offer no real threat to Christian doctrine. Davis is neither too critical of science (he acknowledges the successes and validity of science), nor is he too enamored with science (he repeatedly affirms that science alone cannot answer human existential questions). Most of the scientific terms will be familiar to readers, including: Big Bang; quantum mechanics; chaos theory; artificial intelligence; progressive creation; the anthropic principle; extraterrestrial life; the ultimate fate of the universe. While the terms are familiar, the science behind those terms may not be quite as familiar to readers, so Davis analyzes them from his background in physics. His analysis shows that none of these controversial issues directly contradict any major Christian doctrines. Davis does a masterful job of balancing his Reformed faith with his knowledge as a scientist (he was a physics major at Duke University). He is uncompromising in his support for Christian doctrines of creation, salvation, and personhood. But he is also willing to accept that science, when properly directed, is a search for truth, as is theology. So he does not view science as wrong or anti-Christian; he sees science and religion as complementary fields of study seeking the same goal of truth. Davis maintains his biblical principles, and argues that we do not have to choose between the Bible and science. Scientific integrity and honesty is not, as some would argue, in conflict with the revealed truths in Scripture. Davis shows us a broad knowledge of both science and theology, and his love for God as seen through both the Bible and through science is clearly seen in every sentence. Thus he offers us a truly fascinating look at the theological implications of science and the scientific implications of theology.

A more accessible treatment of many issues covered in Darwin on Trial and Reason in the Balance. -- Teaches good thinking habits to help readers sort out arguments in the creation-evolution debate. -- Introduces basic issues in the evolution debate. -- Nontechnical and easy to understand without oversimplifying the issues. -- Advice for avoiding common mistakes and identifying deceptive arguments. With All of the Complicated Scientific Debate swirling around the topic of evolution, is there an easy way to understand the basic issues without oversimplifying? Phillip Johnson says there is: the key to defeating the false claims of Darwinism is to open our minds to good thinking habits. Here is first-rate advice on avoiding common mistakes in discussions about evolution, understanding the legacy of the Scopes trial, spotting deceptive arguments, and grasping the basic scientific issues without getting bogged down in unnecessary details. In the bestselling and critically acclaimed Darwin on Trial and Reason in the Balance, Phillip Johnson exposed the misleading claims of evolutionary naturalism. Defeating Darwinism provides a new and powerful treatment of these issues for high-school students, parents, teachers, pastors, youth advisors and ordinary readers. Johnson aims not just to defeat a bad theory, but to defeat it in the right way -- by opening minds to the truth.

A097 Reason in the Balance: The Case against Naturalism in Science, Law and Education
$15.00
$12.00

  Phillip Johnson
According to naturalism - what the author calls "the established religious philosophy of America" - God has no place in law, science or the schools. Naturalistic thinking believes nature is all there ever was, is and will be. And naturalistic thinking rules the intellectual world, including the public schools, the universities and the elite of the legal profession. But is naturalism itself beyond question? Few among the cultural elite have dared doubt it. Now comes Phillip Johnson, Berkeley law professor and former clerk to the U.S. Supreme Court, set to take on the "intellectual superstitions" of the day. Reason in the Balance is about God, sex education, evolution, abortion, the search for a grand unified theory in physics, what our public schools should teach, the basis of law, the meaning of reason and a few other things that matter. And that's just the long way of saying that after this book, the culture wars may never be the same again.

  Phillip Johnson
The Wedge of Truth does not abandon a foundation of rational thought but acknowledges that reason encompasses more than science can provide. Johnson wants to put back on the table for public debate issues that have often been ruled out of court. In splitting the foundations of naturalism, Johnson analyzes the latest debates about science and evolution. He incisively pinpoints philosophical assumptions and counters the objections to intelligent design raised by its most recent critics. This is a book for anyone who thinks these foundational questions are important and who would like to be an informed participant in the ensuing public debate.

The authors discuss the outworkings of that worldview in issues of postmodernism, gender, worship, psychology, science, education, history, government, economics, and the arts and literature. Each writer also suggests resources for further study. This book will prove to be helpful to anyone striving to think biblically in todays culture.
